SSH protocol
Summary
SSH is the underlying protocol for SFTP, SSH Shell, or SCP subsystems. It provides confidentiality and integrity and enables secure authentication for the transmission channel.
SSH authentication modes
The server supports following authentication methods:
- local password authentication,
- Windows authentication PROedition,
- public/private key authentication,
- multi-factor authentication.
SSH security
Use predefined algorithm sets aiming for maximum security or for maximum compatibility. Or configure a custom set of algorithms to suit your needs. See the SSH algorithms documentation for details.
SSH key formats
Buru can use private and public keys stored in the following formats:
- PKCS #8,
- Putty .ppk,
- OpenSSH/OpenSSL (SSLeay) keys,
- new OpenSSH keys,
- X.509 certificates with private keys.
Tip: BuruSftp server includes a SSH key generator. See burusftp keygen command.
Fine-tuning the protocol configuration
You can fine-tune the SSH layer configuration by using a configuration file or Web-based administration. Configurable settings include:
- SSH banner,
- maximum session idle time,
- shell hostname,
- enabled SSH algorithms.
